Picking Up Speed - 3/10

This week has been crazy, but so much fun! We were on lock down on Mardi Gras because of how cold it was (if there is ice anywhere the entire mission gets put on lock down). Which wasn't new to me we just did what I use to do before we would do things with the elders on preparation day. That night we were able to see one of the less active families that we pretty much took from the elders because the wife is home more often then the husband. Well they have their great niece living with them and she's never said a word while we have been there. Well this time she was talking up a storm about going to the parade that day, getting beads, and then about how they had to get a new tire.  Later in the week we taught one of our investigators that doesn't live that far from us. Well she's been having guy problems and we started teaching her that trials aren't a punishment always but there is always something that we can learn. Well we were able to see her two other times this last week and she's doing better. She is still not her old self but I think the things that she's gone through and us telling her that God knows what is up and that He's trying to help her through will be the thing that she needs to help her come to church and possibly even get baptized.

Saturday was crazy because we had district meeting and the elder's baptism, that we were put in charge of making the program for, which is perfectly fine with us if they get us all the information we need on time.

Oh yesterday was awesome to because the bishop and his wife invited just us over for dinner, which has never happened. It is usually us and the elders. It was so much fun because we taught them how the gospel blesses families and that in order for it to happen that we all have to strive to create an atmosphere where the Spirit can dwell.
Well besides that things have been good. It is warming up and the sun is shining more!

Well y'all I love you and hope you have an awesome week that you be sure to tell me about.

A week of refelction - 3/17

So having been in Covington for seven months I have been doing a lot of reflecting. The work here has progressed quite a bit. I have also started studying the Atonement a bit more. It has been interesting to see that all the changes that I have gone through are because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I believe that wholeheartedly. I don't understand how people could believe that we aren't Christians. We are trying to do everything that Christ told us to do and with the proper authority. It breaks my heart to see people close their hearts to us just because they don't understand what we believe. Let us tell you what we believe, open your hearts and then you will see that we are all children of the same God. A God that loves each of us more then we can ever know. A God that sent His Son to die for us so that ALL of us have the opportunity to live with Him again. I do know that He loves us enough that He would provide what ever means necessary to have us all return to live with Him. I also know that He like any good parent will let consequences happen with each choice we make so that we understand the power that we have to determine if we have the determination to do what He asks so that way we can return to His presences.
Well these are my thoughts for this week. I hope y'all have a good week.

I Have No Idea What Is Going To Happen Now!

So like I said last week I won't find out until tonight if I am getting transferred or not, so you'll just have to wait until next week to find out.

Things this last week have been crazy. We went down to Chalmette do do exchanges, I got to work down their with a sister that is training and Sister Pike got to be with her former companion (she was in Chalmette for 11 months) After that we had ZTM with the north zone, it was good they shared a talk Elder Holland gave in the MTC and well it was very much a slap in the face. Not because I am doing anything bad, but because there are things that I could do better at so that the work will go a lot smoother.

Today we had ZTM with the south zone. It was a lot of fun we did skits to act out the principles we were asked to study. We then took a break and had popcorn that Sister Pike and I spent last night popping (our apartment is now infused with the smell of popcorn) while we were doing other stuff.... We popped about 25 bags, and had five left over, that no matter how much I like popcorn I can't eat anymore for awhile...mainly because the apartment smells of it. Oh something I do know is that the south zone will be receiving their own set of STLs :( I love working with the south zone, the zone leaders are great, the sisters are great, the elders are great, they are all beyond great.

Also yesterday our two nine year old investigators were baptized. I tried not to cry too much, but the mom did end up giving us each a box of Girl Scout cookies...I got Samoas and Sister Pike got Thin Mints. I will send y'all pictures another time.

Love y'all and I hope you have a wonderful week,
Sister Brady

Mardi Gras - 2/24

Let me teach you somethings about Mardi Gras.
1. Getting beads at a parade is like getting the candy that they through out in parades, it is just something that happens. It is NOT something bad.
2. Missionaries in our mission are only allowed to go to the family friendly parades.
3. They are a lot of fun...and I have stuff to send y'all from the parade that we went to.

So by that you probably guessed that I went to a Mardi Gras parade. It was a lot of fun. I got a light up bouncy ball, a stuffed fish, a lot of beads, and cups. We went to the Eve Parade which is the big deal parade in the Mandeville/Covington area. It was a lot of fun.

Things were crazy this past week. We had two exchanges right after each other, I was down in one area for one and up in Covington for the next.
Well it is close to that time again. Transfers are next week. Only detail is that when I email you I won't know if I am staying or going because the libraries will be closed Tuesday (when we normally email transfer week) so we may end up emailing on Monday, but we will see. So with that in mind please send any letters or anything of that nature to the mission office if you know they won't get to me before Tuesday.
Well I sure love y'all to death and I hope you enjoy the pictures....the one that you see two little girls, I was trying to get a picture of the lady in back that is hooked to the float because the costume is so heavy.
Love,
Sister Brady

A Chicken with Its Head Cut Off - 2/10

This week has been crazy busy. We had a meeting Wednesday morning that we didn't get back from until almost 6pm. Then we had a baby shower for one of our investigators who had her baby the  day after we had the baby shower for her. Then we had a meeting Friday and Saturday. We also did an exchange between the two meetings that we had. It was crazy but it was a lot of fun. I have decided that I am never going to be in charge of a baby shower for the rest of my life because that is to much stress for me. We made a cake and decorated ( all those skills I learned 11 years ago are finally paying off.). We still haven't got to meet the baby yet because we have been so crazy busy. This week is another crazy week because we are going to the furthest part of the south zone and plus all the other stuff that we have to do. Hopefully it works out for us to go to the temple this Saturday because after what we had last week and how things are looking this week I am going to need a spiritual recharge.
I promise that I haven't lost it yet, and that I am actually liking being as busy as we have been. Mainly because I get to work with some amazing sisters out here and the zone leaders that we work with are helping us so much in what we have to do.
Love y'all and I hope you have a fabulous week of faith.
